CHARLES SERVED IN THE 14TH BATTALION OF THE CANADIAN MONTREAL REGIMENT. HE WAS KILLED TRANSPORTING EQUIPMENT IN BELGIUM - CONSIDERED TO BE A DANGEROUS ASSIGNMENT.
According to the CIRCUMSTANCES OF DEATH record - Charles died of wounds sustained from a grenade blast, he was wounded in the right side and his right arm. He was removed from the field of action and he subsequently died of his wounds at No 10 Casualty Clearing Station.
