Subject: [Frome] Examination of John BENNETT 1837....

Order of Removal no Appeal was made to the Court of Quarter
Sessions - that he this Examinant hath not since such removal done any act whereby to gain a Settlement in any other Parish or Place - that he hath several times received relief for himself and Family of the Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Beckington whilst living in the Parish of Wotton Underedge, that about Eleven years ago he was lawfully married in the Parish Church of Wotton Underedge to Elizabeth his present wife by whom he hath four Children born in Wedlock (namely) Eliza aged about Ten years, George aged about Eight years, William aged about six years and Phillis aged about two years - that neither of the said Children hath gained a Settlement in her or his own right and that he this Examinant and his said Wife
and Children are now chargeable to the said Parish of Wotton Underedge.

To the Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Beckington in the County of Somerset.

We the undersigned being the Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Wotton Underedge in the County of Gloucester do hereby give you notice that John Bennett and Elizabeth his Wife and their four Children (namely) Eliza aged about ten years George aged about eight years William aged about six years and Phillis aged about two years are now chargeable to and relieved in our said Parish of Wotton Underedge and we send you herewith a Copy of our Order of two justices of the Peace of the said county of Gloucester for the removal of the said Paupers from our said Parish of Wotton Underedge to your said Parish of Beckington and also Copies of the Complaint and Examination upon which such Order was made - Dated this Nineteenth Day of August 1837.
