"I have attached a photo of Grandad's Sister, Mary Allen when she visited Scotland in the late 60s. I visited her house in Hampstead ?London with my father once" Thank you Sandra
I have attached pictures of grandad's wedding to Mary Wells in Old Shoreham Sussex. My Grandparents moved to Glasgow where they had three son's each were taken to Shoreham to be baptised.
It was my paternal grandparents who moved to Glasgow. As the story told by my nan goes, Grandad (Richard Charles) was a boy soldier who was sent into the army at a very young age by his sisters Rose & Mary I believe they were spinsters and working. That is why I thought Grandad had only two sisters. Whilst in the army he was posted? to Old Shoreham where he met my nan who worked in a tea room there. They fell in love .
Grandad played in the Army or Police Band. He was offered a posting to either Ireland or Glasgow and they chose Glasgow because Grandad thought it had a better Police band. (and less conflict there) He played the trumpet. I do not know how acurate this story was but I believed it.
MANY THANKS SANDRA FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE SITE
